Staffa, which comes from the Old Norse word for "stave" or "pillar," is an uninhabited island about a half mile long and even less wide. Its notoriety springs from its structure of hexagonal basalt columns created by volcanic activity 60 million years ago! The same ancient lava flow formed the Giant's Causeway in Ireland, and according to legend the two were connected by the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill so he could cross from Ireland to Scotland. The striking sea cave naturally delved into the south side of Staffa is called Fingal's Cave, which is simply a corruption of Fionn mac Cumhaill's name, though the original Gaelic name for the cave was An Uamh Bhin, "The Melodious Cave."
Please know that all fibers are feltable unless otherwise noted. Handwash and air dry to avoid felting.
Every attempt is made to provide accurate photographs; however, be aware that color may vary from monitor to monitor ( background is white in reality if that helps!)
As always, if you have any questions, please send me a convo. I would love to hear from you!
