Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ship to anywhere in the world?

Yes, we ship to any location that USPS delivers to. Shipping is calculated at checkout, according to the weight and size of the package, as well as shipping location.

Since recent changes in VAT policies, we have adjusted to still be able to sell to the UK and EU. If you are in the UK or EU, we welcome your purchase. We will set up a listing in our etsy shop of your purchase (after cancelling the one in our shop here) and send you a link to that instead. Etsy handles the collection and remittance of the VAT fees.

The only exception to this is Germany. Unfortunately as of July 2022 we are unable to ship directly to Germany due to their new regulations necessitating complicated packaging registration.(LUCID) If you have a friend in another country we are willing to work with you to ship there and they can ship to you. Since we are a business the rules are stricter, and the penalties to us would be heavy. ( so we have heard !)

If I make multiple orders on the same day, will the shipping be combined?

Yes, we always combine shipping if multiple orders are made at the same time, and we will refund you excess shipping costs.

Can I reserve an item in your shop, in case I can't make it to an update?

We typically don't offer the option to reserve batts, because of limited quantity and to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to buy them. In some cases, we will reserve dyed braids - for example, if it was a custom dye job.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes, and no. We will do our best to take custom orders for dyed top, although there may be a waiting period, because we aren't able to stock every fiber base at all times.

However, we cannot take custom orders for batts at this time. The complexity of our batts make them next to impossible to re-create.

What's a Batt-in-a-Braid?

A "Batt-in-a-Braid" is what we call our custom-milled top, which is almost as great to spin as a batt, because each one has at least three different ingredients mixed together.

What's a Sticklebatt?

We have two basic types of batt creations: the roly-poly batt, which is a whole batt straight off the drum carder and rolled up; and sticklebatts, which are bite-sized morsels of batt for easy spinning. Usually, the roly-poly's are kept whole in order to preserve the gradient, while sticklebatts tend to be semi-solid colors.

Help! I thought you made batts, but I don't see any listed for sale?

Our batts sell out very quickly, so we aren't able to keep them stocked in the shop at all times. The best way to get one is to come to a shop update. You can sign up here to receive notifications about our upcoming shop updates: http://eepurl.com/df1LLv

What's an Inglenook?

An Inglenook is an alcove or nook next to the hearth - thus, a cosy warm spot, perfect for spinning!

I purchased a gift card- now what?

You will receive an email containing the link to the coupon code for the redemption of the gift card amount (to be entered in the coupon code spot in the cart) . You can forward this email to anyone the same as you would give the card.

If you notice the box with the numbers, you need all 16 digits. You can select them, and scroll to get them all; for some reason they are shown cut off in the gift-shaped image. Simply select the numbers and scroll over to retrieve the whole code, which you can then copy and paste into the spot for discount codes at checkout.
