On Staffa, We encountered a group of Grey Seal pups with their mothers lying on a pebbly beach. Unlike Harbor Seals that can swim as soon as their born, Grey Seal pups are born with fuzzy white coats that are not waterproof. They must remain on land for two to three weeks until they shed their white fluff for a smooth, grey waterproof coat. We were lucky enough to catch them still on shore, with tufts of white fuzz being shed around them. That's why we thought adding white angora to these batts would perfectly illustrate these cuties!
