Istari, translated as ‘Wise Ones’, also known as Wizards, were Maiar, immortal and powerful spirits, sent to Middle-earth to assist the Free peoples against Sauron. They took the appearance of old men and strived to advise and persuade Men and Elves to resist Sauron. Among them, Saruman, originally the most powerful of the Istari, became ensnared in Sauron's power and fell, while Galdalf and Radagast stayed true to their mission and were instrumental in the destruction of the One Ring.
Haunui ( New Zealand Halfbred) is a stabilized breed only available from New Zealand. It is a cross between Merino and a longwool ( usually Romney or Leicester Longwool) with a lofty, soft, and fine hand.
Haunui wool is at the finer end of Halfbred, with micron counts that are more often found in Merino wool. It has been consciously selected with handspinning in mind.
I take great care to make sure that dye is sufficiently exhausted and heat set the fibers so there is minimal to no run-off. However, due to differences in water across the globe, what runs clear for me may bleed a little for you.
Please take care to hand wash your finished item in cool water and lay flat to dry. I also make every attempt possible to use a photograph that is as true as possible to the real color. Monitor settings may vary.
