The Benedictine Abbey of Iona, restored in the 20th century, was built on the original site of Saint Columba's 6th century monastic community. It's the spiritual heart of the island. One of our favorite spots in the Abbey was a tiny room at the top of a little staircase, behind a beautiful wooden door carved with the words: "Stand Fast". You have to duck to enter the low arched doorway, and inside is nothing but a bare stone tower room with a single chair and a narrow window with ferns growing all around it (on the inside!).
Please know that all fibers are feltable unless otherwise noted. Handwash and air dry to avoid felting.
